Welcome to Doc Scanner Pro (Package Name: com.aistudio.docscanner.ky2a1z). Your trust and privacy are of utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines our strict data privacy practices and explains how limited information is processed when you use our mobile application.

1. Completely Offline-First & Local Storage Architecture

Doc Scanner Pro is engineered from the ground up to operate completely offline-first. All your scanned documents, captured photos, imported images, document metadata, folders, tags, category filters, and generated PDF files are stored locally and exclusively on your mobile device (using Android Room SQLite database and private internal application storage).

We do not own, operate, or maintain any cloud storage, remote servers, or proprietary databases that collect, synchronize, transmit, or store your personal documents. Your documents and data remain 100% in your own possession and custody.

2. Document Scanning, Image Processing & On-Device OCR

When you capture, crop, edit, or import documents in Doc Scanner Pro:

  • On-Device Image Enhancement: All image cropping, perspective transformations, edge detection, rotation, contrast/brightness adjustments, and color filter enhancements (such as Magic Color, Black & White, and Grayscale) are processed strictly on your device’s local processor.
  • Local Optical Character Recognition (OCR): Text recognition features utilize Google ML Kit on-device processing. Your scanned text, document contents, and extracted notes are processed entirely locally and are never transmitted to any external servers.
  • Local PDF Compilation & Compression: Converting multiple images into a combined PDF document or compressing file sizes executes entirely within the app sandbox on your device.
  • We do not transmit, upload, sell, inspect, or share your scanned documents, photos, or extracted text with any third parties or remote servers.

3. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)

To provide Doc Scanner Pro as a free utility, we display advertisements served by the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). AdMob may collect and process non-personally identifiable technical identifiers to deliver personalized or non-personalized advertisements, track ad performance, and detect invalid traffic or fraud.

  • Information Processed: This may include device advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID / GAID, Android Ad Services ID), coarse IP addresses, device brand and model, mobile operating system version, and general diagnostic or crash metrics.
  • All advertising-related data collection is managed directly by Google and governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

4. Android Device Permissions & Narrow Scope

Doc Scanner Pro requests only the minimal system permissions strictly necessary to deliver its core document scanning and file management features:

  • CAMERA (android.permission.CAMERA): Used exclusively to capture document pages directly from your device camera inside the app. The camera feed is utilized only during active scanning and is never accessed in the background.
  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used solely when you voluntarily choose to import existing photos, scans, or images from your device gallery or photo library into the app.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used only to notify you of document processing status, PDF export completions, or local backup operations.
  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used solely to load advertisements provided by Google AdMob and verify network connectivity before serving ad requests.

5. Document Security, Password Protection & Sharing

  • Password-Protected Documents: You can lock sensitive documents using an optional passcode. The app generates and stores a secure local password hash on your device to verify your passcode; we have no access to your password or your locked documents.
  • Local Backup & Restore: Doc Scanner Pro offers an optional local backup tool that packages your documents and database into an encrypted/compressed file. This file is saved exclusively to your local device storage or exported via the system Sharesheet strictly under your explicit direction.
  • User-Initiated Sharing: Documents and exported PDFs are only shared when you actively tap the share button (e.g., via Android Sharesheet, email, messaging apps, or cloud storage apps). We do not automatically send or sync your files anywhere.

6. User Data Custody & Deletion Rights

Because all your personal data is stored locally on your device, you retain complete ownership and control over it:

  • In-App Document Management: You can edit, reorder, or delete individual pages, entire documents, or folders at any time. Deleted documents are moved to the in-app Trash/Recycle Bin where they can be restored or permanently cleared.
  • Manual Data Clearing: You can wipe all application data and stored documents at any time via your device settings: Settings > Apps > Doc Scanner Pro > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Data.
  • Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling Doc Scanner Pro permanently and irreversibly deletes all stored documents, local database records, and app preferences from your device’s internal storage sandbox.

7. Children’s Privacy

Doc Scanner Pro does not intentionally collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union/UK), in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since the app operates entirely offline without user account registrations, no personal identifying information is collected from any user.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect updates in app features, platform policies, or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted with an updated “Effective Date” at the top of this document. Continued use of Doc Scanner Pro following any updates signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
