A. Zero Remote Data Transmission (100% On-Device File Processing)

File Manager is built on a strict privacy-first, on-device architecture. The App operates as a local utility and file explorer. We do not operate external file servers, remote databases, or cloud sync backends. Your personal files never leave your device:

  • Files, Media & Folders: Any documents, images, videos, audio tracks, compressed archives (.zip), and downloads accessed, moved, renamed, copied, previewed, or deleted through the App are processed entirely locally in real-time on your device storage.
  • Favorites & App Preferences: Your marked favorite items, custom sort preferences, and UI themes (Light/Dark mode) are saved strictly inside the App’s local database (SQLite/Room) on your private internal storage.
  • Zero Tracking of Content: We do not scan, read, upload, inspect, monetize, or transmit the contents of your private files, documents, photos, or media.

B. Information Collected Automatically by Third-Party Ad Networks

To provide free access to all file management, storage analysis, audio playback, archive extraction, and preview features, the App integrates Google AdMob (Google Play Services) to serve banner and interstitial advertisements. Google AdMob may automatically collect and process certain non-personally identifiable diagnostic and advertising data, including:

  • Google Advertising ID (GAID / AAID)
  • Device brand, manufacturer, model, screen resolution, and Android operating system version
  • IP address (used solely to infer coarse geographic region for localized ad delivery)
  • Advertising metrics (such as ad impressions, click interactions, and loading diagnostics)

Google’s processing of advertising data is governed by the Google Ads Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.

2. Device Permissions and Why They Are Needed

File Manager requests only the permissions strictly required to perform core file management tasks and deliver ads safely:

  • android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All Files Access): Required on Android 11 (API level 30) and above to enable core file manager functionality, including organizing, copying, moving, renaming, deleting, and searching across internal storage directories and SD cards outside the app-specific sandbox.
  • android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE & android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used on Android 10 and earlier devices to read and manage files and media.
  • android.permission.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, android.permission.READ_MEDIA_VIDEO & android.permission.READ_MEDIA_AUDIO: Used on Android 13 (API level 33) and above for categorized browsing, thumbnail generation, media playback, and storage categorization.
  • android.permission.INTERNET: Required solely to communicate with Google AdMob servers for loading advertisements and verifying network status.
  • android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to verify active network connectivity before requesting ad resources.

The App does NOT request or access sensitive device capabilities such as Camera, Microphone, Contacts, GPS Location, SMS, Phone State, or Call Logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

We utilize permissions and technical data solely to:

  • Provide core file management operations (browsing, searching, renaming, copying, moving, archiving, and deleting files).
  • Provide integrated media and document preview features (image viewer, built-in audio player, text file viewer).
  • Analyze storage consumption and categorize disk space usage across documents, images, video, and audio locally.
  • Display banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob to keep the application 100% free for all users.
  • Prevent ad fraud, monitor crashes, and adhere to Google Play Developer Program policies.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal data or file information with any third-party marketing companies, data brokers, or advertisers. The only third-party service integrated into the application is Google AdMob, which operates subject to Google’s strict privacy and security standards in compliance with international privacy regulations (including GDPR and CCPA).

5. Data Retention and User Deletion Rights

Because all file data, favorite bookmarks, and preferences are stored exclusively on your local device:

  • You retain 100% ownership and control over your files at all times.
  • Deleting File Data: Any files or folders you delete inside the App are permanently removed from your device storage immediately upon your confirmation.
  • Resetting App Preferences: You can completely clear cached settings and favorites at any time by going to Android Settings → Apps → File Manager → Storage → Clear Storage / Clear Data.
  • Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling the App removes all internal databases, favorites, and cached configurations.

6. Children’s Privacy

File Manager is a general utility application designed for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13.
